WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment)
Saitama Super Arena Japan
We taped the Japanese event of the World Wrestling Entertainment with two broadcast TV trucks and Mobile Audio Units including 11 cameras, 12 VTR and 2 LSM.
Our Media Business Division provides a service for displaying on the TV screen the comments that TV producers or directors select within the ones that our system automatically picks up among Chats Sites like Twitter or YouTube.
You can select comments among “Hashtag” for Twitter and among “Chat” for YouTube Live.
You can display selected comments not only on the screen but also on the custom iPad application allowing you to direct a TV program so that you get to link the performers and the contents on the screen.
Our Media Business Division is developing systems to link the screen display with various social media services. If you have a social media platform that interests you, please feel free to contact us. We can provide a customized service to meet your needs. We would also suggest for you the best graphics on display.

In the world of real-time graphics, quality has evolved significantly over time as the power of the workstation has been driven ever higher.
In the IT world, the move to the cloud has accelerated in recent years and now that many compute processes are being executed there, so too have services that process real-time graphics.
fmt has been paying attention to one of these providers, Singular. In recent years, it has been closely following the company’s trends and technical capabilities and in 2020, fmt became a Singular Certified Service Provider and began offering cloud graphics services.
In 2020, due to the severe situation caused by COVID-19, activities on distribution services – which had been moving even before then – have increased at a rapid pace. Singular is highly adapted to this distribution medium and can provide graphics services to meet all current requirements.
In sports, for example, fmt can provide scores and player information; in music; song titles and lyrics, while providing graphics and quality similar to conventional broadcasting in a form that matches all types of content.
Also, our service makes it possible to display comments from SNS such as Twitter.
Not only HD-SDI output, but also output to streaming software, is possible and, as these can be used in various ways, we expect to be able to respond to a wide range of user requirements.
fmt is now able, through Singular, to provide a variety of customized services to render your content in rich, powerful, graphics.
Please feel free to contact us for more information.

At the All Japan Figure Skating Championships in late 2020, Fuji TV launched a new initiative called “#ConnectwithSkaters”, inviting people to send messages of support to the skaters via Twitter hashtags.
The tweets were displayed as CG images on monitors set up at the local venues, and the messages were also sent to the figure skater.
Also, the CG images of the messages of support were combined with images of the athletes’ interviews, and were broadcast live on YouTube during the event.

This time, we used Singular.live to create the CG to be displayed on the monitors at the venue. This was achieved by linking Singular with the Twitter data collection system that Fuji TV uses on a daily basis (This system is designed and operated by us.)
We created a custom application that allows users to select the tweets they want to display as CG from the collected tweets, and the selected tweets are rendered as CG on Singular’s cloud service.
We were mainly responsible for the following parts.
– Graphics design (CG design).
– Singular scene creation (animation, basic data handling, etc.).
– Creating the custom tweet selection application and linking it to the Singular scene.
It is possible to design in the Singular.live service, but for this project, we used Pixelmator Pro.app for design work because we had detailed requests from the production team, such as “To be a speech balloon” and “Warm design”.
I brushed up the design through trial and error, thinking about the placement and the design of each part such as the speech balloon and making several options.
Create in Pixelmator Pro
I used Google Chrome to access Singular to select what kind of animation to use when a tweet is updated, and to create the basic parts necessary to link with the custom tweet selection application.
Because it is a cloud service, the staff that operated Singular did not need to go to the site (in Nagano) but carried out the operation work from Fuji TV in Tokyo.
The command sent out from Fuji TV was received as a Singular image by the distribution team’s PC at the site in Nagano and combined with the camera images.
Youtube Live streaming was also displayed on monitors at the local venue.
By using Singular, we were able to reduce the number of people who had to be on location, which helped us to solve the problems caused by the recent changes to working procedures related to the spread of the COVID-19 infection. (This experience will be helpful for planning future operations with fewer on-site staff.)
In addition, the cost of the system itself is much lower than that of a CG system for broadcasting, and I believe that this will make it easier to introduce CG in distribution programs.
